Red Faction: Insane environment destructibility overshadows any storyline or repetitive issues.

BF1943: It's a year later, the war is still going on and EA still "shocked" at the demand.

I'm not sure how I turned it on, but the OSD Lock on this ViewSonic sucks. It locks you out of the menu screen and looking up "OSD Lock" viewsonic turned up a bunch of nothing on Google. So for my posterity, here's how to unlock it:

Press the menu button on the TV. It should bring up the "OSD Lock" message. Now press and hold the Menu, Volume Up, and Volume Down buttons for 5 seconds. You should get the message "OSD Unlock" -- You can now go into the TV menu again! Yay!

Give me your podcasts/syndicated audio/whatever!

Listen UP! - 1up.com's podcast, every Friday for ~2 hours. 60% interesting, 30% filler, 10% juvenile. Not bad overall.

Scientific American - Weekly-ish podcast about all things science. ~30 minutes each. Really interesting stuff.

Real Time with Bill Maher - His jokes are... eehhh, but the panel discussion is sometimes pretty interesting.

The is a really strange game that seems to shift genres while you're playing it.

At the very beginning, it really is "survival horror." They say, "Here's a knife and a handgun with 8 shots, now go have fun with these 18 zombies." But almost right after the first level, ammo starts to become plentiful and turns from survival horror into a third person action game where every zombie. must. die. You've got the ammo, why not? The horror is gone, except for maybe a couple of encounters.

There's also the controls, which is a defenseless position. You either love accept it or you hate it. There's no good reason to still have the stop-and-shoot gameplay other than "that's the way we've always done it." I mean, I can see there are a lot of mechanic-y things behind this style of gameplay, and it's the reason why zombies will run halfway across the map at you, then practically stop 5 feet from you and take a lunch break.

I mean, I still liked the game. But the only reason I played it (and I'm still playing it) is because of the co-op, the unlockables, and the leveling mechanic. There's nothing better than leveling up to become super-powerful and just tearing through anyone that gets in your way.
